Elephant Orphanage to catch the excitement of watching the baby elephants being fed with bottles and also how playful even the older ones are in the river. Undertake a jeep safari of Udawalawe National Park- created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares (119.00 sq mi) of land area. Species recorded from the park include 94 plants, 21 fish, 12 amphibians, 33 reptiles, 184 birds (33 of which are migratory), and 43 mammals. Additionally 135 species of butterflies are among the invertebrates found in Udawalawe.
The park is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan Elephants which are relatively easy to see in its open habitats with a herd of about 20 -50 and other wild animals such as Sambur, Deer, Wild boar, Jackals, Wild buffalo, Mongooses, Water monitor lizards, Crocodiles, Sloth bears.
This park one of the important bird areas in Sri Lanka, is a good home to variety of birds including endemics such as Sri Lanka Spurfowl, Red-faced Malkoha, Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Brown-capped Babbler and Sri Lanka Junglefowl are among of the breeding resident birds. White Wagtail and Black-capped Kingfisher are rare migrants and also a variety of water birds visit the reservoir.
The Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home within Udawalawe National Park established to rehabilitate orphaned elephant calves for ultimate release back into the wild. The visitors can watch the elephants being fed, but they are not allowed to touch or otherwise interact with them.

In Dambulla, visit the famous Dambulla Golden Rock Cave Temple which is best known for its wonderful cave temple complex dating back to 2nd century BC, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Climb the steps to a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, a vast isolated rock mass with its five caverns is the largest best preserved cave-temple complexes in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2,100 sq. meters) are of particular importance as are the 157 statues including a 47 foot long statue of the recumbent Buddha. The ceiling of one cavern is fully illustrated with paintings that follow the natural folds of the rock so closely that it appears to be made of cloth. The complex of caves is one of the most impressive Buddhist Temples in the world.
